Don Strope is a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, a graduate of Meyers High
School and Wilkes-Barre Business College. He holds a BRE (Bachelor of Religious
Education) degree from Practical Bible College, Binghamton, New York.
Don worked in the construction business for 25 years as a payroll clerk,
construction coordinator, credit and collection manager, office manager,
comptroller, and assistant corporate secretary.
He received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior following an almost deadly
altercation and since had been actively involved as a Christian layman teaching
Bible in jails and prisons, singing with a men's gospel quartet, serving as an elder
and Sunday School teacher in his home church, as President of the Luzerne County
Sunday School association, a board member and secretary of the Luzerne County
Evangelistic Association, and was a speaker representative for the Pennsylvania
Council on Alcohol problems in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and served as a youth
pastor in two Methodist churches and an interim pastorate in a Presbyterian Church.
Responding to God's call into full time ministry, Don left a very secure position in an
established construction company and attended Bible College, graduating cum
laude.
He began his ministry in West Pittston as pulpit supply in 1991, was appointed first
as interim in 1992 then later that year as pastor. He was ordained by the Christian
and Missionary Alliance in 1999.
Don is married to the former Judith Edwards of Wilkes-Barre. Judy owns and
operates Affordable Cleaning Service. They have four children and five
grandchildren.
